Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Kuppel.
-
What is Kuppel?
Kuppel is a matchmaking app where friends help friends find love. Instead of relying on algorithms, Kuppel lets the people who know you best (friends, siblings, colleagues) browse profiles and recommend matches on your behalf. You can also browse on your own. Think of it as bringing the "I know someone perfect for you" moment online.

How does matchmaking work?
When you join as a matchmaker, you connect with a friend who's looking for love. You introduce them to friends of yours who you think they'd be compatible with, or you browse other singles on Kuppel to find people they might connect with. Your recommendations go straight to their queue, where they decide whether to swipe. You never see their messages or private conversations. You're introducing, not interfering.
-
What's the difference between a single and a matchmaker?
A single is someone on Kuppel looking for a partner, whether that's a relationship, love, or somewhere in between. They have a profile, receive recommendations from their matchmakers, and can browse and swipe on their own.
A matchmaker is the friend doing the recommending. Someone who knows you well enough to spot the right person when they see one. Matchmakers can be happily in a relationship or single themselves. A matchmaker can't message, match with, or interact with any single on the app unless they're also registered as a single. -
Can I be both a single and a matchmaker?
Yes. You can look for someone for yourself and help your friends find someone at the same time.
-
Who can see my profile?
If you're a single, your profile is visible to other singles as they swipe and to matchmakers who are browsing on behalf of their friends. Matchmakers can also search for you by name to request to matchmake for you, but they'll only see your name and photo until you accept. You have control over your visibility. You can hide yourself from search, block specific people from seeing you in their swipe queue, and decline any matchmaker request.
If you're a matchmaker, you have a limited profile that's only visible in two situations: when a single you're matchmaking for can see who their matchmakers are, or when a single searches for you to invite you as their matchmaker. You can hide from search or block specific people from finding you. -
Is Kuppel free?
Yes. Kuppel is free to download and use, with no features locked behind a paywall. Introducing friends to each other is unlimited, and liking someone who's been introduced to you by a friend is always free. The only limit is on discovery likes. That's when you browse profiles on your own without a friend's recommendation. Your discovery limit grows with the number of friends you're connected with on the app. The more friends, the more likes.
-
How many likes do I get each day?
When you browse profiles on your own and like someone, that's a discovery like. Everyone starts with 5 discovery likes per day, and the number grows as you connect with more friends on Kuppel. Your likes reset each morning.
There are two things that are always free and never count towards your limit: liking a profile that a friend recommended to you, and introducing two of your friends to each other.
If you're single: every active matchmaker you have gives you more discovery likes each day. Inviting friends to be your matchmakers is the easiest way to increase your allowance.
If you're a matchmaker: every active single person you're friends with gives you more discovery likes to find new people to introduce them to. The more friends you matchmake for, the more profiles you can explore on their behalf. -
How do I become a matchmaker for a friend?
You can search for your friend on Kuppel and send them a matchmaker request. Once they accept, you can start introducing them to people. Your friend can also invite you directly from within the app. You'll get a notification asking you to join as their matchmaker. You can also send friends who aren't on Kuppel yet a link to your referral code, which will direct them straight to your profile when they sign up.
-
What happens when someone recommends a profile for me?
The profile is added to your swipe queue with a message letting you know it's a recommendation. You won't know which matchmaker recommended them. Recommendations are kept anonymous. You swipe as normal, and if you both express interest, it's a match and you can start a conversation. Your matchmaker never sees whether you swiped, matched, or messaged.
-
Can I still browse profiles on my own?
Yes. Having matchmakers doesn't replace your own browsing. It adds to it. Your swipe queue includes both your own discoveries and your matchmakers' recommendations, side by side. You're always in control of who you swipe on.

Is my data safe?
Kuppel is built and operated by Kuppel Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Your data is stored in the EU and processed in accordance with UK GDPR. We use encryption, automated content moderation, and infrastructure-level scanning to keep the platform safe. Selfies taken during verification are never stored. Only a mathematical representation is kept, which cannot be used to reconstruct your face. You can read the full details in our Privacy Policy.
-
How does photo verification work?
During sign-up, you take two quick selfies: one facing the camera and one with your head turned to the side. This confirms you're a real person, that your profile photos are genuinely you, and that you're over 18 years old. Each of your profile photos is then individually checked against your selfie. Photos that match get a verified badge, visible to anyone viewing your profile. Your selfies are never stored or shown to anyone.
-
How do I report or block someone?
You can block or report any user directly from their profile. Blocking is immediate and mutual. They won't appear in your searches and can't contact you. If you report someone, they will also be blocked and our team will review the report and take action if needed. You can also block your phone contacts from ever seeing you on Kuppel.
-
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Settings, and tap "Delete Account." Your profile is removed from the app immediately. Your data is permanently deleted within 30 days unless we're legally required to keep it longer. If you can't access the app, you can also request deletion through our support page.

Where is Kuppel available?
